The company initially set out to sell computers and other equipment, but as it steadily grew, it added the selling of the best computer hardware and services as well. With a steady growth, it expanded its reach to serve other IT-related industries, including significant government IT projects, designing and operating purpose-built IT facilities, and partnering with industry titans like Lenovo, HP, and Dell.

A technocrat Mr. Thangavel started his career as a computer coordinator in 1986 with Digicon India Pvt Ltd and within a span of 3 years moved up as customer support manager and in another year got elevated as Senior Manager-Systems. After a successful 7 year stint with Digicon, and wanting to explore the plenty of opportunities in the field of Information Technology and Facility Solutions, Mr. Thangavel decided on starting his own venture to achieve his desire, vision and goals. In 1994, he started Origin Information Technology (in partnership with Mr. Loganathan) to provide quality computer hardware sales and service.

Origin Information Technology started the business of selling and servicing quality hardware plus rental & leasing solutions for all IT related Products & services. After establishing in the market as a reliable and quality-conscious vendor and service provider, Origin Information Technology was promoted to 'Origin Infosys Private Limited' in the year 1998. The company started providing end-to-end solutions in computer hardware and services to major corporates. In tune with the expanding areas of business such as providing turnkey infrastructural solutions to the IT sector, the company rechristened itself as 'Origin IT and Facility Solutions Private Limited’ in the year 2008. The name was changed to 'Origin ITFS Private Limited' in 2010. In the year 2022, the company name was again changed to "Tinkas Industries Private Limited" to encompass its diversified activities viz., Bio Mining, Trading in agriculture, Outsourced Jewellery manufacturing, Manpower recruitments, Steel trading, etc. to the existing business segments. Mr. Thangavel feels that he can give back to his nation the growth it needs in many ways like providing employment opportunities to many, and doing CSR activities, etc. His goal is to make Tinkas a leader at the National and Internaltional levels.
